Mina Nasser

This is a mother raising a son with a serious and ongoing medical condition, following the loss of her other children. Her husband works as a farmer on an irregular basis, leaving the family with no stable income.
Her son has been receiving medical care for several years. He was initially diagnosed with enlarged adenoids and fluid buildup behind the ear, for which he underwent surgery — including the insertion of ear tubes — but the procedure was unsuccessful as the fluid returned. A subsequent endoscopy revealed a tumor, and the operation was halted immediately due to the risk to his life. He now undergoes painful procedures every six months, during which fluid is drained via needles, followed by pressure tests and hearing assessments. If fluid is detected again, further surgery will be required. The condition also affects his vision, causing blurriness in his right eye and recurring dizziness, requiring biannual ophthalmology visits and prescription glasses.
The family lives in a mountainous area, and the son's school is not within walking distance. His mother pays daily for a tuk-tuk to transport him to and from school, adding a recurring cost on top of treatment expenses, school fees, and private tutoring.
Their home is structurally inadequate. The roof is made from old, rusted metal sheets that leak rainwater in winter and trap intense heat in summer, making conditions inside extremely difficult year-round.
